Music Therapy Services

At Modulations Therapies, we bring individual, family, and group music therapy services to people of all ages and abilities. We serve clients in homes, schools, and facilities throughout Hancock and Penobscot Counties in Maine. We also offer online services across Maine.

Service Options

Home Visits

Home visits eliminate the need to travel to yet another appointment, while allowing you the comforts of home. Often, people feel best in their own space and it allows us to strategize ways to use music in daily life, even outside of sessions. Parents or family members have to option to participate or use the opportunity to have some “me” time.

School/Facility Visits

If home visits are not the best option for you, we also provide services in schools, day programs, rehabilitation centers, and residential facilities. This allows us to collaborate with other healthcare and education team members.

Ellsworth Community Music Institute

How does it work?

We serve people from 1 - 101 years old who have a wide variety of abilities and needs.

Sessions look very different depending on the person and reason we are meeting. Common elements in all sessions include 1) music and 2) a goal or purpose.

When meeting your music therapist for the first time, we focus on getting to know you and conducting an assessment, just like other therapists do. We gather information about your strengths and needs, identify goals, and develop a plan to meet those goals. We will explore what types of music you enjoy and specific ways music can be used to help meet your goals.

Most often, we meet weekly for an hour. This varies based on your individual needs, age, financial considerations, and scheduling availability. Some people with ongoing needs use our services for months or years, while others schedule just a few sessions. We will work together to develop a plan that meets your needs and goals.

Do you have more questions? We offer free phone or email consultations and are happy to answer any questions you have.
